Plans & Ideas
Boomer (Fast Retro Custom Road Bike)
Dynamo & Dynamo Drive
Just taken a bit of a gamble and bought a dynamo off eBay for £35.00 with no description or photo, not seen it yet so hopefully could be a bargain but might be a basket case! Fingers crossed, either way should be a good start and after all its better than no dynamo at all (still trying to convince myself I've done the right thing). Probably will go for a toothed belt drive with a 12v conversion. Still got to check out the one offered by SRM. Also I have seen a V belt conversion done for the dynamo will find out if this is available -   could be the solution.
Exhaust System
Intend to make an equal length big bore "y"iamese, had some experience with this in the past and I remember it as being really effective! Currently also looking at this cool silencer from MegaPower Plus to complete the system.
Cylinder Head
Planning a twin carb conversion based on my alloy A7 head which has a separate inlet manifold, looks like it should convert ok with larger valve seats and some very careful porting work. Will put up some photos when I start work.
I have bought a pair of these
dual port manifolds now, many thanks to Don Bachtel for the helping me to source them. Still need to track down a pair of  Amal / Mikuni ? carbs, probably get a set off eBay as funds become available.Click here to see the photo!
Rocker Gear
Trying to find some finned covers that replace the stock valve inspection covers. The pair in the photo were manufactured by Webco and just sold on eBay for an incredible $152.50, the exhaust cover has a fitting installed for venting which apparently will reduce the chance of oil leaks from the top end.

Managed to get hold of a vented exhaust cover (Thanks Duncan) -  just needs a little bit of work to restore it but it will be fine, put up a photo shortly......

Crankshaft
Was going to use a heavy weight sidecar / export crank for mega torque and cruiseability. The one I have will need some work to restore, unfortunately its below the regrind limit. Maybe it could be reground offset for the smaller journal BA10 rods to give a longer stroke, a 700cc A10 would be very cool? Click here to see the photo!

After a bit of considerationI'm going to fit a standard weight crank after all, perhaps the heavier crank would take the edge the acceleration just a bit to much, has anyone out there had any experience of using a heavy crank?

Purchased a reground CA10 crankshaft now with a load of other spares (Thanks again Duncan) - think this is the problem solved.....................

Camshaft
Type Part No Think I have already got a Road Rocket camshaft but haven't removed it from the crankcases and checked the part number yet. Here is the info on camshafts that I have found so far, if you can confirm or add any more to the list please drop me a line.
Standard 67 - 334
Super Rocket 67 - 356
Spitfire 67 - 357
Acceleration 67 - 358
Primary Drive & Clutch
A toothed belt drive would be well suited to this bike, currently looking at this one from John Scerri.
Alloy Rims
I have managed to get hold of a Borranni Record WM2 x 19 for the front and a Borranni Record Cross WM16 x 300D alloy rim for the rear ( must check to see if it clears the chain run), well pleased with them now been doing some serious polishing, think they will do the job nicely, although the valve hole is a bit large in the rear rim, guess it had a tractor agricultural tube fitted previously.Click here to see the photo!
Front Brake
The front brake is an 8" TLS originally from a 68 Triumph Bonneville, it had previously spent a lot of time in some special leading link forks used on the bike when it was an outfit, the brake plate being too hacked about to use. However it all has now come back from the edge to standard now -Steve Dales supplied the very tidy original brake plate in the photo Part # for BSA 37-1990 A65 & 441's of 1968, cheers Steve!

Got a small problem now with the front wheel spindle. it is approx. 1/4" to long on the brake plate side, I could re-machine the bolt locating groove but will try to source a more suitable job first, perhaps out of a A65 or 441. Also the brake locating lug on the fork leg is slightly to short and does not engage fully into the slot on the brake plate, won't fix this for a while as may end up changing the fork legs yet!Click here to see the photo!

Anyone know the part # for the correct fork legs?

Front Forks
Think the forks I have are from a later swinging arm A7 Shooting Star, just realised that the fork stops are different to the plungers in that they are shorter and allow the forks hit the tank. This could be fixed with a bit of modification but I would much rather find the proper bottom yolk, also now acquired some two way dampers for the forks, will give these a try - pictures to follow shortly..............
Paint
Nearly finished rebuilding my old compressor so going to spray the bike using two pack paint when the time comes, probably light blue for the frame & forks etc. with a bit of custom work on the tank - haven't decided what the theme will be just yet - no rush on that one!
Stainless Nuts & Bolts
Not found a source for these yet.......
Rear Sprocket
Got this smart finned rear brake, not sure what it's off originally but it takes different sized bearings, hoping to overcome this little problem because I'd really like to use it.....................

The sprocket chain size is 5/8" x 1/4" and its stamped WELWORTHY AL-FIN AFD597/1 EA.

Stainless Spokes
Not found a source for these yet.......
Oil Tank
Going to make this from scratch, the original one will be in the way of the twin carbs and Filters / K&N's / Bellmouths?
Also would like to build some kind of cartridge filter into the side / bottom of the tank.
Petrol Tank
Thinking about using this prismatic type petrol tank off a chopper which I have just acquired (Thanks Ian). Looks to have been home made from 1.5/2.0mm steel it has a twist type filler neck welded in with no fittings welded on for fuel lines only 2 holes. It would save me making one from scratch. The original tank is not easy to fit over the twin carbs now and of course it also covers up the nice shiny rocker box to much, also now decided to put it into service on Shorty.

Taken some pictures now of the tank on the bike, what do you think?Click here to see the photo!
I'm still a bit unsure myself, perhaps it will grow on me.....................

Tyres & Tubes
I had intended to use a 5.00" x 16" chopper tyre on the rear but after putting the chain-guard into place it looks a bit touch and go on the clearance.........still undecided at the what to do at the moment?
Got a great deal on a new ( old stock ) 19" Dunlop ribbed front tyre, cheers Pete!
Electronic Ignition
The Lucas Rita kit LR134 comes with coils but you need to convert the bike to 12 volts. apparently they are very hungry electrically taking approx. 40watts to run. Thinking this might be a good option at the moment though, perhaps I can also fit an electronic rev counter?

PRICE LIST FOR LUCAS RITA IGNITIONS AND POWERBASE ALTERNATOR KITS

Not found a source for these yet in the UK, many thanks to David Comeau for the info.
